The women meet 8 a.m. at Skidders on the the first and third Monday of the month for the Ladies' Prayer Breakfast.

"We enjoy breakfast and each other's company we get to know each other better. It doesn't matter whether you just order a drink, a breakfast or nothing at all...we're there to fellowship with each other and share our joys and burdens through intercessory prayer. We begin with a brief devotional followed by an opening prayer. We then take turns sharing our praises and prayers with each other. We record them on an index card to help our facilitator who gets them out to us in an email to remind us of who/what we are praying for. Materials for recording our praises/prayers are provided if needed. This has been such a sweet way to help me be accountable to others in our church family, to grow in my spiritual walk, and to live the promise of Matthew 18:20 which says ‘For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.” S.G.

“Just read Live not by Lies.  Chief among the methods used to combat the communist takeover in central Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, mainly in 1950's) were Christians meeting in small groups-many times very secretly.  It made me think of the small Bible study groups in members’ homes going on now.  I think another one of these "small groups" is our Ladies prayer breakfast.  We need the reassurance of knowing we have friends who study the Bible and are praying for each other.  To me this reassurance brings strength and comfort.” C. “Being a part of Island Chapel's Women's Prayer Group allows me to fellowship with sisters 'in Christ' within a small group setting.  We enjoy breakfast and each other's company we get to know each other better. Ladies' Prayer Breakfast provides an opportunity for Christian fellowship with other women twice a month.  We share our praises and our petitions and we pray for each other.  This draws us closer to God and to each other.  B. S.
