Director of Christian Education
Joshua Wolfenden hails from Miami, Florida. He began attending The Island Chapel in 2003, with Angela (then Angela Lozano) and was drawn to the message, the fellowship and the ways in which he could see God moving in his life.
Joshua received his BA from Florida State University, his teaching certificate from the University of South Florida in 2003 and his Master’s in Education from the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg in 2009. As an educator, he appreciated the way each sermon ended in an application, making the Biblical principles relevant to today’s circumstances. He recalls, “One Sunday, a few men were asked to stay behind and help move chairs in the sanctuary in preparation for carpet cleaning. I volunteered to help, not realizing that it would be the first step toward a life of service and dedication to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Since that day, Joshua served as an usher, was ordained as a deacon in 2007 and was appointed Director of Christian Education in 2010. Josh shares, “…this position has strengthened my fellowship with Christ and allowed me to connect with wonderful Christian brothers and sisters in our shared mission of service to God.” Josh and his wife, Angela, have two active young sons, Jacob and Caleb.
The Island Chapel became Christina’s home church in 2013 and in 2014 she began serving in the nursery. As a child she assisted her mom in teaching Sunday school to the toddler class, volunteered in the nursery during her teen years, and also served as a leader for the Wednesday night AWANA program as a young adult.
Professionally Christina has been in the childcare field for over 10 years. She has her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and Community Leadership at St. Petersburg College.
