The Island Chapel started modestly, as a Bible study at the home of James and Dorothy Hair for a year. The group grew quickly as Dr. Mike and Maria Wetzel moved from New Orleans to establish the church. The church moved to a local resort in 1992.
A local bank purchased a large parcel of land to build a bank, but did not need all of the land. They approached Dr. Wetzel with a proposal to sell a portion of the land for a church building. The Island Chapel’s current building was completed in 2001, and the church has continues to grow.
The Island Chapel sermons are Bible-based, practical, relevant and applicable to our daily lives. The education program offers something for every age group. Worship services always include music and singing.
The Island Chapel is active in community events such as our Easter Sunrise Service, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Programs, the Christmas Cantata, Vacation Bible School, Baseball Concessions, as well as year-round adult and children’s education programs, and local, national and international mission outreach programs. There are many ways to participate, through volunteer opportunities, depending on individual skills and interest.
The Island Chapel welcomes you!
