The Island Chapel started modestly, as a Bible study at the home of James and Dorothy Hair, for a year. The group grew quickly. After Dr. Mike and Maria Wetzel moved from New Orleans to establish the church, in 1992, it moved to a local resort. Later, a local bank purchased a large parcel of land to build a bank, but did not need all of the land. It approached Dr. Wetzel with a proposal to sell a portion of its land for a church building. The Island Chapel’s current building was completed on that land, in 2001. The church continues to grow.
The Island Chapel sermons are Bible-based, practical, relevant and applicable to our daily lives. The education program offers something for every age group. Worship services always include music and singing. The Island Chapel is active in community events such as our Easter Sunrise Service, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Programs, Vacation Bible School, and Baseball Concessions. There are year-round adult and children’s education programs, local, national, and international mission outreach programs, as well. There are many ways to participate through volunteer opportunities, depending on individual skills and interest.
The Island Chapel welcomes you!
