Mission Community Events

The Easter Sunrise Service began in 1992 with a modest audience of about 100 people. With a backdrop of beautiful music and breathtaking views of the sun rising over the ocean this event now draws approximately 2000 people. The service is held at one of the loveliest beaches in the state, Fort de Soto’s East Beach. With free admission and open to all, people come from throughout the region to hear the Word of God and share this fantastic experience with their friends and neighbors. Mark your calendars, bring a lawn chair, dress warmly and join us for a breathtaking celebration of the resurrection of our Lord.

Easter Egg Hunt – Held in Tierra Verde, the Saturday afternoon before Easter Sunday, this free event is open to children up to age 12, filled with games, crafts, face-painting, the Easter Egg Hunt and – of, course, a visit with the Easter Bunny! The “Hunt” is the main event and is split into age groups so all children are sure to find colorful eggs full of candy, some with special prizes!

Vacation Bible School:
If you are looking for a special, meaningful summer activity for your children, each June The Island Chapel holds a FREE week-long Vacation Bible School for grades pre-school – 6 (ages 4-12). The focus of VBS is to teach the basics about God through fun activities, crafts, games and music. Each year there is a special theme for Vacation Bible School. The VBS theme for 2016 was "Submerged!" Be sure to mark your calendars for next June's program. Information will be available on this site in early 2017.
